THE HARNESS - HOW TO ACHIEVE THE PERFECT FIT

A well fitting harness is a safe and comfortable harness that your dog is happy to put on for every walk. We have added some tips on how to make sure your dog harness fits perfectly.

Make sure that the strap between the legs is long enough to allow for some space between the chest strap and the front legs. This is where a lot of harnesses fit too tight and cause chafing. If your dog is an escape artist, you could make sure that the chest strap sits further back, behind the widest part of the chest.

The harness should not be too wide between the front legs, this is super important for a free unobstructed movement of the front legs. Also bigger dogs can have a pretty narrow space between the front legs. While padding may seem comfortable on this part, it often makes it too wide and uncomfortable.

The point where the straps meet in front is where pressure will be applied if your dog pulls. The neck straps should be adjusted so that this point is on the breast bone and not too high up on the neck.

Allow for some extra space under the straps, it should be comfy also when the dog is running and the chest is widening from panting, so test this when your dog is active.

The materials and seams should be smooth and slide in order to not get stuck in the fur.
